Fintual is a wealth management tool for people in LATAM.

It's a Fintech startup backed by renowned VCs like Y Combinator and Sequoia that has more than 100k happy clients distributed between Chile and México and is growing at a fast pace.

As a Software Engineer at Fintual, I worked on both the product and the web and mobile app architecture. Some interesting things I got myself involved in, include:

• Setting up deep linking on Fintual's mobile app: I made it simple enough so that anyone -developer or non developer- could create new deep links within minutes to improve user experience navigating the app.
• Optimize the account creation process for new clients to improve the onboarding funnel and positively impact the conversion rate by around 8 to 10% in México. This was done by A/B testing features and using data and interviews to make changes to the product.
• The creation of a referrals program for México: Started with an MVP and iteratively evolved to a version that correctly aligned the interests of customers and Fintual. This program helped double the client base in México at an early stage taught us that referred clients are overall better customers as they invest more and churn less. This program helped drive sustainable growth based on the trust that new clients had on who referred them to Fintual.
• Came up with a crowd based evaluation tool for the application process of a programming bootcamp we organized in Patagonia. Helped reduce the number of Software Engineer hours required to evaluate applicants from hundreds, to less than 20.
• Documentation: created technical documentation for everything I took responsibility of. This includes deep links, the referral program for México and the onboarding process for new clients. People from different areas and with different backgrounds turned to me and this documentation to understand these tools and processes.
• Wrote an article on some of the benefits of adopting Github Copilot, as a Software Engineer.

At Fintual, I learned a lot about how it is to work at a startup, and the importance of taking ownership of projects and continuously delivering value to the company and the clients. I gained experience working with different areas of the company, like marketing, compliance, legal and customer support and reaffirmed the relevance of earning your users' trust.
